CLUB RULES

One thing we pride ourselves on is the convivial atmosphere, which we try very hard to maintain within the club.  As a club we obviously have a set of rules, which are available for perusal adjacent to the visitors and nomination books, but I would just like to highlight some of the more important rules and codes of behaviour and perhaps answer in advance some of your frequently asked questions. By taking the time to read and abide by the rules you're showing consideration to your fellow-members and staff and going a long way to help maintain the atmosphere within the club that we are justly proud of.

  1. As a Conservative Club all our members are members of the Conservative Party.  If you have not already joined you must do this at the same time as joining the Conservative Club by paying a donation to the Conservative Association along with your club membership fees.  Full details of this are explained on your membership form.

  1. Your club membership card is also your door entry card and should be carried with you at all times, since it is used to activate the door entry system which we have for security purposes. If you forget your card, we do have a buzzer on the door, which will enable staff to open it for you, but please be patient as they are often busy serving other members.  Should you lose or damage your card, replacements are available from the Treasurer at £3 50p each.

  1. We expect our staff to be courteous to our members at all times, and likewise we expect the same standards from our members.  In particular we have no wish to hear bad language in the bar.

  2. The club has a dress code. The wearing of hats in the club is not permitted. Smart casual dress should be worn after 8.00 pm. Tee Shirts, vests and shorts are not allowed in the bar after 8.00 pm.

  3. We welcome children and families into the club, but as with any other licensed establishment children are not allowed at the bar, and should leave the premises by 9.00 pm.

  4. We are happy for members to invite their guests into the club, and do not charge a fee for guests, but they must always be signed into the visitors' book and remain the responsibility of the member who signed them in. If you have a guest who becomes a regular visitor perhaps you should encourage them to join the club. Visitors are not allowed to play the fruit machines or make purchases in the club.

  5. Dogs, with the exception of guide dogs are not allowed in the Club at the following times
    Tuesday - Saturday  12.00- 2.30pm and 6.30 –9.00pm

    Sunday                      12.00 -  3.30pm

At the times not specified, dogs are welcome in the bar area as long as they are on a lead and kept under control by a responsible person

  1. As from 1st July 2007, in accordance  with current legislation, smoking is not permitted anywhere within the club premises.
